Professional Development - Implementing SMART Notebook & Interactive Whiteboard in the Classroom
Topic: Implementing SMART Notebook & Interactive Whiteboard in the Classroom
Population: This professional development session will be provided for K - 8 teachers who decide to participate or would like to learn more on effectively using SMART products in the classroom.
Outcomes: Professional development participants will complete 1 interactive lesson based on a topic he/she will have to teach. Professional development participants must include an assessment piece throughout the lesson. Professional development participants will teach this interactive lesson using the SMART board to show the implementation of technology.
Gap: My participants will probably be at different levels with use of the SMART board. However, they should all know the basics about turning the power on and off, orienting the board itself for touch recognition, using the pens and eraser, etc. Participants should also know the basics about SMART Notebook software. They should have no problem navigating the SMART board's use or SMART notebook.
This professional development will go through SMART notebook and the different things that are there to use. There's a lot to the notebook software that many teachers don't know about. It's very easy to use notebook to create a test or quiz that teachers don't have to print out. This session will teach teachers how to implement what is already made for their use into the classroom while also showing how they can add their own unique touch to the presentation.
The gap is not on implementing the use of the SMART board in the classroom but,how to effectively use it to actively engage students in learning.
